Why regular gear care matters
Scuba equipment lives a tough life: sun, salt, chlorine, sand, and repeated packing/unpacking all add up. Regular inspection and upkeep help you catch small problems early—before they become bigger frustrations.
Even when something seems fine, wear and tear can be sneaky. Taking a little time for routine care and checkups supports comfort, performance, and confidence on every dive.

Mask care (and how to beat fog for good)
A mask that fits well and stays clear can make an average dive feel amazing. If you’ve ever spent a whole dive defogging instead of looking around, you already know why mask maintenance matters.
When you get a new mask, it’s important to clean it right away, as oils from the manufacturing process can cause fogging on the lens. Using a mild cleaner or non-gel toothpaste can effectively remove this film.
Before each dive, apply a commercial or organic defog solution and keep the mask on your face to prevent the defog from rinsing out or drying up. Remember that a little defog goes a long way, and if you opt for a homemade or organic defog, prioritize eco-friendly options for a cleaner experience.
After use, rinse the mask and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Regularly check the strap for signs of wear and tear, and replace it as needed.
If your mask is still fogging after good cleaning and good habits, bring it by—sometimes it’s a simple fix, and we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
Snorkel basics
Simple gear deserves simple habits. Your snorkel should be secure and comfortable—then you can focus on moving and breathing easily at the surface.
Attach it securely and start moving!
After use, a good rinse goes a long way. If you notice buildup from chlorine or saltwater, use toothpaste as necessary to clean off any chlorine or saltwater buildup.
